Spring Break In San Antonio was fricken Hillarious

San Antonio is a Beautiful city! We decided that since the weather was against us we would travel there rather than the gulf....and save that road trip for the summer time. I was suprised that the best part of the trip wasn't the historical significance of the Alamo.....the picture is it....Crazy...and a good thing it was free to look at. The river walk was fabulous! A story below the city streets is miles of river surrounded by a walkway.....there are gondola rides....and several restaurants....you can dine riverside or inside....there are different shops.....its beautiful.....a little texas meets Venice..... I loved it. It truly was wonderful and I would go back anytime.
Our family does trips funny....we try to plan....but plan as we may it doesn't always work out the way we thought. We punched in our address for San Antonio into our Garmin Navigator....wonderful bday present....after our first one was stolen from our car...."Welcome to Texas' So anyhow....this navigator drove us halfway to Abilene then took us off onto tiny one lane backroads....some gravel....some not so nice....twisting and turning us in all directions all the way to San Antonio....It was a beautiful drive.... It was apparently one of those short cuts people take in scary movies....not another car on the road...no cell service (If I remembered mine) Scary movie material right down to the abandoned service station with the creepy old man with the long ZZ Top beard sitting on an old bench holding a cat.....Literally Weird....Twilight Zone.... The whole town was empty! BUT we did stumble across a town definitly worth a trip of its own. Fredricksburg....it is a touristy town all done up like Germany....pretty cute! So needless to say the trip home was kinda what we expected main highways...freeways.... I doubt we would ever go on the exact same trip there again.....I couldn't find it if I tried....not even using a map! But it was well worth the drive....and it made for a fun spring break.
It was cold though..... So we froze as we walked.....originally we wanted to sit on the gulf and soak up the sun....

What a cool trip!! Our trips never turn out the way we planned either. We blame it on Jim. For a while there he was "Disaster Dad" for all the weird stuff that kept happening on our trips. I'm glad you made time for it. It looks like all of you had a great time!!

Lori is right -- time needs to be made for the trips. I'll come see you and then we can go during the week this summer while Tony slaves away. Have an ex-friend who lives in San Antonio....
